About Berne Union members
Berne Union member organisations come from both the public and private sector. Collectively, they cover all aspects of the export credit and investment insurance industry worldwide.Berne Union and our members are a vital link in the chain of world trade. Members support exports and/or investments to both highly developed and emerging markets by providing insurance or guarantees to protect exporting companies, investors and financing banks against political and/or commercial risks. Effectively, they make trade happen.
Berne Union members occupy a key position in global trade markets. In 2006, they covered around US$1.3 trillion worth of business. This amounts to about 10% of the world's total export trade.
Consistent with our objective to work for the international acceptance of sound underwriting principles, Berne Union members are committed to conduct their business in a manner that contributes to the stability and expansion of global trade on a sustainable basis.
Berne Union members play an important role in supporting international trade flows, be it for trade finance or for the financing of large-scale projects.
